How should I prepare for an employment assessment test?

 I am planning to apply for a job at a certain company in my hometown. I have friends who work at the company and they told me that it is common for the human resource manager to do personality testing for employees. I have never done an assessment test. For this reason, I am quite nervous. I do not know what the test involves or how to prepare for it. My friends told me that the common tests in the company are the Hogan test and the SHL test. I would like some tips on how to prepare for this exam and some advice on whether or not it is a good idea to use a Hogan and SHL test answers cheat.

Employee assessment tests are very common today. Employers use these tests to test different things. Some of the things they test include personality, aptitude, and general capability to do the job.

The Hogan test is an example of a personality test for employees. This test is used to predict an individual’s performance based on their problem-solving skills, values, weaknesses and strengths. In addition to this, this assessment is also useful for assessing career derailment risks, cognitive style, core values and personality characteristics. Hogan assessment tests include Hogan Personality Inventory, Hogan Development Survey, Hogan Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory, Hogan Judgement and Hogan Business Reasoning Inventory.

On the other hand, SHL tests are psychometric assessment tests produced by the international company SHL. The types of tests that are produced by SHL include verbal, numerical, diagrammatic reasoning tests, personality questionnaires, inductive reasoning tests and motivation questionnaires. They basically test your ability to handle the job, your personality and other important things that show the employer what kind of employee you would be.I do not think Hogan or SHL test answer cheats will help you pass this test. This is because the questions are normally different and they do not really need cheating in my opinion. There are a number of things you can do to improve your chances of passing these tests.
They include:

  • Adequate Preparation
    Take some time to understand the tests and what they measure. Once you have done this, look for websites or apps that will help you practice for the examination. Having an idea of the type of questions to expect will give you confidence when you go to do the test. A great app to try is Job Flare. This app basically tests you on most of the things aptitude tests measure.
  • Do not stress over personality tests
    Personality tests are the easiest because they test personal traits. In these tests, there is no right or wrong answer. This is the best thing about personality tests. Another great thing about these tests is the fact that most employers do not understand how they work. Therefore, you are less likely to fail.
  • Relax
    Assessment tests are not the only way employers identify suitable candidates. You will also be asked to submit your resume and answer relevant interview questions. Therefore, you will still have many areas to shine in if you do not do well on the assessment tests.

An employment assessment test is nothing to worry about. Normally these tests are used to provide a common assessment test for all employees. The mistake most job application candidates make is assuming that they should answer the question the way they think the employer wants them to answer. The best way to perform well in a personality assessment test is to be yourself. One effective tip you can use to better your chances is reading the instructions carefully. Sometimes instructions contain some information that can really help you when you are doing the test. For example, if the instructions say that there is no right or wrong answer, you can rush through the test when you begin running out of time. Therefore, always set aside enough time to go through all the instructions given. Apart from reading instructions, it is also very important to make time to do the test. Find out how long the exam will take and spare some time to do it. If it is a web-based test, make sure you choose a place without any distractions so that you can focus.
