Depends, if you work at a chain most of the commission everything that you do. You can get anywhere in the 40%(which is low)-70% you can get benefits with these jobs, as well as training and advice. It all depends on how many hours of work and the number of clients you have. If you work in a booth rent, then you get everything you do, but you have to pay the rent of the room. Usually do not get benefits with that. If you work in a salon that wants to get the client in and out fast that is going to teach you techniques for giving a hair cut quickly and normally these places pay anywhere from 8 to 9 dollars per hour, plus productivity bonuses and tips.
