According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the estimate of the average annual salary of a social worker as of May 2008 is, $48,180. This would amount to $23.16 per hour. The median of aannual wages of child, family, and school social workers were $39,530 in May 2008. The middle 50 percent earned between $31,040 and $52,080. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $25,870, and the top 10 percent earned more than $66,430.
