Co is the symbol for the element cobalt. The atomic number of Co is 27.1 st shell has an orbital s and can contain up to 2 electrons.2nd shell has s and p orbital and can contain up to 8 electrons 3rd shell has s, p and d orbital and can contain up to 18 electrons In Co electron configuration up to p orbital in the 3rd energy shell is 1s2 2s2 2p⁶ 3s2 3p⁶After orbital 3p, electrons begin to fill in the orbital's 4th energy shell as the orbital 4s has lesser energy than 3d so it fills up the 4s before the 3d, after it is filled with 2 electrons in the 4s, remaining electrons fill the 3d orbital 1s2 2s2 2p⁶ 3s2 3p⁶ 4s2 3d⁷in the 3d subshell there are 7 electrons
