So it depends on what type of prism it is: hexagonal? pentagonal?

The first answer is correct, the second is not.

A prism is a generic term used to describe a solid (3-dimensional) object that has two faces polygonal (bases) that are identical and parallel. These faces are joined by a number of rectangular faces.

The bases can be any polygon with n (≥ 3) sides and a prism has 2n vertices (corners).
