An equilateral triangle, by definition, has three sides are of equallength. The definition of an isosceles triangle is that it must have twosides of the same length, the other side to be free to be anylength. Based on these two definitions, we can say that an equilateraltriangle is a special case of the isosceles triangle, that is, onewhere the third side is also equal to that of the other two sides.
