The speed of a snake depends on the species and the size. On average, the faster the speed of a snake is between 5 mph to 8 mph. Now, the black pepper snake, with the Latin name Lampropeltis getula holbrooki, is not a venomous snake belonging to the species of king snake. They are usually 48 inches or 120 cm long. It is found primarily in central and south America. For the food, feed on small mammals, rodents, birds, frogs, lizards, and other snakes.
