Each grade has points associated to it: A=4 B=3 C=2 D=1 multiply the grade points by the number of credits the class is worth, sum the totals calculated and divide by the sum of the credits. So if you were to take 3 classes and got an A in a 3 credit class, B in a 2 credit class and a D in a 5 credit class calculate GPA as (4x3)+(3x2)+(1x5)=23/10(total credits) = 2.3
