Lady Bracknell is the epitome of the Victorian era - she behaves like a lady, and believes that appropriate behavior is the most important thing that a person can express in public. She is against any thing that it may be considered vulgar, and dismissive of people who do not belong to their class. She is very private, and considered that a good honest is what everyone should strive for. These are all qualities of the Victorian era, when everyone seemed a little tense.
