How do Equal Employment Opportunity laws protect job applicants?

I think the answer is: It protects people from discrimination in employment when it requires the unfair treatment bc of their race,color,religion,gender, national origin, age (40 years or more), disabilitly, and genetics.Laws were enacted about ten years after the racial segregation period. During this time, even despite the fact that minorities are allowed to use the same public infrastructure, as most citizens did, many companies still show discrimination by choosing not to hire or promote minorities. This law were the government's efforts to try to fix the situation.
