The supreme court ruled on cases affecting the rights of Chinese immigrants for the defense of the Law of Exclusion of Chinese. This was signed by President Chester A. Arthur, May 6, 1882. This restricts the free-immigration in the united states, not allowing Chinese laborers to migrate. I hope this helps.
