How did the English Civil War affect the Enlightenment?

The Illustration in England had its roots in the English The Civil War where the English came in conflict with King Charles II. Your excess taxes enraged the Parliament that led to the war. Charles lost and later tried and executed. This gave rise to the Commonwealth governed by Oliver Cromwell. It influenced the Enlightenment, because during the period of the rights of the common the men who were now being recognized and they are more than mere followers, but he had a the right to express their feelings. The principles of freedom and rights became the the approach of philosophers such as John Locke.
