How could I improve my English vocabulary?

English is not my first language. For this reason, I often encounter challenges when speaking the language. One of my main concerns is that I have a limited English vocabulary. This limits me especially when it comes to creative writing. I would like to improve my vocabulary so that I can be better at both speaking and writing. Is there any English exercise that I can do or any spoken English book I can use? What are some of the best and most effective ways to improve one’s vocabulary and get better in speaking and writing?

I have a few tips for you.
Always practice! This is very important, I realized this from my own experience. Als,o make associations for each word. In fact, the simplest advice is effective. I often ask a help from writing help websites. This is useful when you have little free time, and you want to do a lot of things. In general, talk drastically! it's easier than it seems.

Most people who speak English as a second language experience this problem. This is mainly because when you are being taught English for the first time, the instructor focuses more on teaching you the basic principles. They leave learning new vocabulary to you because it is easier to expand your vocabulary when you have learned everything about the language. Fortunately, vocabulary is something you can teach yourself. Below are some of the best ways to expand your vocabulary.

This is probably one of the best English exercises you can do to improve your vocabulary. Reading exposes you to numerous new words. If you want to improve your vocabulary, you need to cultivate a reading habit. You can read novels, literary works, magazines, and articles. When you are reading, stop and try to find out the meaning of every new word you encounter. You can try to understand the meaning by looking at the context in which the word was used or by using a dictionary.

Get  a Dictionary and Thesaurus

The dictionary is a heaven sent for vocabulary English students. Most dictionaries contain meanings of most words out there. You can use the dictionary to look up the meaning of new words you come across. Once this is done, use your thesaurus to get synonyms of the words. This allows you to know several other ways to say the same thing using different words. Make a habit out of this so that you can learn as much as possible.

Keep a Word Journal

A journal is very important because it helps you keep track of all the words you have learned and you can always refer to it when you have forgotten the meaning of words you have already learned. However, before you start journaling, make sure you have a goal. For instance, you can have a goal to learn at least 5 words every day. This will enable you to learn more.

Get an English Spoken Book

This is a book that teaches you how to speak. There are numerous books that will teach you how to speak good English. Therefore, you might have to do some research to identify the best one. This book might not teach you a wide range of vocabulary, but it is very advantageous because it enables you to know how to use the different words you have learned in a sentence.

I agree. These are some of the best ways to improve your English vocabulary. However, I believe there are also some fun ways to earn new words that do not seem like work. First and foremost, you can learn new words by playing games like scrabble, boggle, word jumble and anagrams. These games will enable you to learn new words as you are having fun. Another great way to learn new words is by communicating in English more often. Speaking in English allows you to pick up new words from the people you are talking to. Try to jot down every new word you hear and look it up when you have the time. This is less tasking compared to reading, and it really improves your confidence in speaking in English. However, whichever method you choose, make sure you are consistent with it. This way, you will notice a difference in your vocabulary.
