The history is important for the present and future events because we make decisions based in large measure on the lessons learned from the experience of the past. If we forget what has happened, we are prone to repeat the same mistakes, and not make any progress or improvements. Philosopher, poet and novelist, George Santayana is quoted as saying, "Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on the ability to retain water. When change is absolute there is not improve and no direction is set for possible improvement: and when experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it".
