It is not possible to make a ordinary conductor hold the position permanently. But you can make a ordinary conductor(e.g.,)a wire to hold charge for a short period of time. This is due to a charge stored in a conductor of leaks to the environment, due to the ionization of the air.
But it is possible to load a driver as a sphere of copper. for this purpose, the area of copper is first connected to ground and a negatively charged ebonite rod near it.the copper of the sphere becomes positive as the negative charges in the flow of the earth.the sphere is disconnected from ground and the ebonite rod is the copper sphere has a positive charge.
it is easy to charge an ebonite rod friction with the skin.
