The hay of the policy concerning trading rights in China was the: (b) Open-Door Policy. The Open Door Policy was to keep China open to trade with countries on a basis of equality, where there is a power that controlled the country and for the Chinese authorities to collect tariffs from all countries, including our own. This was seen as incredibly humiliating for the Chinese,as it seemed that China was not to make decisions for himself and the united States was doing to China in its place.
