Explain why might the president make executive agreements rather than negotiate a formal treaty? In your answer include one con and one pro of an executive agreement.

Executive agreements are often preferred by the president, since it does not need the agreement of the Senate. Both parties can agree to something that does not need a congress of input. One of the advantages with this type of agreement is that it takes less time. If the president hands of the senate, which can never be done. However, it could also be an easy way to do policy concerns and objectives for self-interest. A formal treaty is advantageous when it comes to the duration. This could not easily be reversed and are binding even until the next presidents, but, unlike executive agreements, which takes time.
