Psychologists work in solo or group practice or those who offer any kind of treatment of patients, including clinic, counseling and psychologists in the school must follow certifiestion or conditions of licenses in all States and the District of Columbia. License laws vary depending on State and type of position and require a license or certificate of psychologists to limit their practice to areas in which developed professional competence through training and experience. Clinic and advice psychologists typically need a doctorate in psychology, got an internship, and 1 to 2 years of professional experience. In addition, all States require applicants to pass a test. Most States together licensing management standardized assessment, and a Board with additional oral or essay questions. Some States require continuing education for license renewal. National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) awards, Certification at the National level School Psychologist (NCSP) designation, that it recognizes the competence of professional psychology national school, not the State, level. Currently, 31 States recognize the NCSP and allow those with the certification of transfer credentials from one State to another without having to take the new certification exam. In States that recognize the NCSP, the requirements for certification or licenses, and for the NCSP often are the same or similar. Requirements for the NCSP include the completion of 60 graduates semester hours in school psychology, and 1200 hours for internship, 600 hours of which must be completed at school; and ratings aprobatoria the National School Psychology Exam.
