Do you know any websites where I can find good college faculty jobs?

I am planning to move to another state, and I’ll need to find inside higher education jobs. I am working as an assistant professor at a community college, and I’d like to continue working as a teacher when I move. I know that positions for college faculty jobs are quite competitive, as there are a lot of good colleges and universities. I’ve already looked through the websites of higher education organizations like this https://www.studentaffairs.com/resources/websites/professional-associations/, but I’d like to look at more to improve my chances of getting in.

There are a lot of people who are angling for a college faculty job. Here is a similar website to the one that you’ve mentioned, and you can just filter the search setting for college professor openings in the state where you are moving to. I don’t know which state you are moving to, but the universities and colleges are usually really competitive. You have mentioned that you are now teaching at a community college, this is advantageous for you since you have already gained some experience compared to fresh graduates who are also looking for teaching jobs.

Aside from just looking at career websites, you can also reach out to the higher education organization in your field. I’m sure that you are more than familiar with these kinds of organizations and associations, and if your community college is a member, reach out to them and see if they can refer you to universities or colleges that have vacant teaching positions. Here is a list of some of these organizations that I’ve mentioned. Aside from organizations, there are actually a lot of online groups and forums for people inside higher education job discussing topics from their students, the school they teach for, subjects and fields of study, to just sharing stories with each other. This is just one of many online groups out there, but I’m sure if you Google and look around you’ll find much more like these. Though these are not primarily made for job postings, there are some threads where people do post professor vacancies in their schools, and who knows, you might even end up making worthwhile contacts and friends there.

Moving to another state comes with its own challenges, added to that the pressure of looking for a new job. Aside from the change of environment, you will also be dealing with a different set of students. You can read this article to see what you can expect when you move here. Starting over in a new place is both exciting and scary, but I’m sure that you’ll make the most of it and have a really great time. The first few weeks and months will probably be a period of adjustment for you, but you’ll get used to it and eventually grow to love living there. Best of luck!
