To draw the perpendicular bisector of a segment AB using only a straight edge and an unmarked compass, we follow these steps: Step 1: Place the compass tip on point a and draw a small arc above the line AB approximately in the middle. Step 2: Now place the compass tip on point B and draw another arc crossing the first arc. Step 3: Without doing any change to the compass, keeping the compass at the point a, draw a small arc below the line AB approximately in the middle. Step 4: Now place the compass tip on point B and draw another arc (below the line AB) crossing the first arc. Step 5: Join the lines where the arcs cross each other on both sides.
