They are known as Lewis electron dot structures.The valence electrons are the electrons present in the valence shell of an atom.(A) Lithium has a total of three electrons, one of which is of valence electrons, as we see from their electron configuration.[Li]=, For Lewis, the structure, see figure (I) (B) Sodium has a total of 11 electrons, one of which is of valence electrons as we can see that from their electron configuration.[Na]= For the structure of Lewis see figure (II) (C) cations of sodium, there are a total of 10 electrons, as they easily lose their valence electrons to achieve the configuration of noble gas, so that there will not be any valence electron present in it.
