In NY, no; I know this for a fact since I did and I was denied unemployment benefits. I even went to Court to try to get from them, was in vain.. The law in new york, states that tor to stop smoking or reduce their hours of work in order to attend the University without the "good cause", and your request will be denied. HOWEVER, if you are currently in a situation of unemployment with a claim active, you can apply for what is known as the "Section 599" benefits. these, in certain circumstances, be allowed to attend school while receiving benefits. The benefit period is also extended if it is approved. Google.
