1. Similarities:both are processes of cell division by which cells reproduce. Share several process steps(prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase, cytokinesis), but meiosis has another division, also with the same steps. In both cases, the cell duplicates its DNA by pulling it apart into two sets, put the sets on each end of the cell, and then divide by half. Both produce new cells based on their parent cells' genes.2. Differences: Mitosis:- have 1 division per cycle of a cell produces 2 new cells - the genetic information of the mother-cell and daughter cells of the same. ( the number of chromosomes is also the same)- occurs in the somatic cellsMeiosis:- two divisions per cycle.- a cell when it divides produces 4 new cells - new cells have different genetic information. it mixes the genetic material of the the parents of the cells - the number of chromosomes in the daughter cells is half that of the mother.
