The british troops began staying in the homes of the settlers.The conflict between British troops and colonial militia in Massachusetts led to the Intolerable Acts. The Intolerable Acts included a Quartering Act, which requires Massachusetts citizens to house soldiers. Despite the fact that this was the common place, it meant a military occupation of the colony. The restrictions in the wake of the Boston Massacre and other violent conflicts in the colony left Massachusetts as the more restricted of the colony of the thirteen.
