Read the excerpt from "Mother Tongue." Lately, I’ve been giving more thought to the kind of English my mother speaks. Like others, I have described it to people as “broken” or “fractured” English. But I wince when I say that. It has always bothered me that I can think of no other way to describe it other than “broken,” as if it were damaged and needed to be fixed, as if it lacked a certain wholeness and soundness. How does Tan build a central idea of her story in the excerpt? Tan discusses her thoughts about language to build the idea that the English language does not have words to match some Chinese terms. Tan discusses her relationship with her mother to build the idea that mothers and daughters in all cultures often have misunderstandings. Tan discusses her mother’s use of English to build the idea that a form of language can be purposeful and meaningful even if it is nonstandard. Tan discusses the English language to build the idea that there is a lack of appropriate synonyms for the word “broken.”

Excuse me, but that is not true, woman are just as good at sports as boys. Only a few women or girls will not prefer sprots, but that does not mean that they are bad in sports. Well in my class when we do PE (football) all the girls do is stand while the kids are playing hardcore and when the ball comes to them they give it to the oppsition and score a goal because the girls just kick the ball into your own goal. hardcore? what are you in the big leagues, I'll bet that your probably in elementary school. the girls are able to do anything as much as the boys. the girls in your class probably do not interact with the game, since you might not like football, maybe because it is a game of class that most likely will not marked or perhaps it has happened to you that you can't play as hard as them, because when it comes to boy girl interaction become nervous that they will look stupid or too butch for you. as the majority of the children do not interact with activities like art and singing, because they are afraid of what that will look like. certain guys are better than certain girls in certain sports, as well as certain girls are better than certain children in certain sports. and no! that does not mean that girls are good at gymnastics and the boys in football. what I'm saying includes each and every sport.
