Resistance. Think about Newton's Law of Motion. Any object that is moving will keep on moving until something from the outside causing it to stop or slow down. For example, try rolling a ball on a rug, shaggy. If you roll the ball, the dense material of the carpet will slow the ball down. Carpet shaggy gives more friction, therefore more resistance. Now roll that same ball on wooden floors that are flat and smooth. Less friction, less resistance.
