Linking verbs do not express action. In its place, establish a relationship between the subject of the verb to additional information on the topic. Look at the following examples:
Keila is a shopaholic.
During the afternoon, my cats are content to nap on the couch.

Action verbs express action, unlike linking verbs, look at the following examples:

I jumped out of bed and ran to the kitchen!
Hey said my mom.
