Yes, it seems to me that this sentence true: for example, Deafness is a form of disability - the lack of capacity to listen (and, often as a result of this : to speak of). It is also a social identity - often referred to with the name of "the Deaf" - written with a capital letter. It is distinguished by a language and a culture of their own.
